Ideas, Thoughts, and Randomness...

Summer is almost done. Can you believe August will be here in one week. Each year of my life goes by faster and faster.

Steve and I went to see 'Inception' Friday night. One of the best movies I have seen in some time, I already want to see it again. Whoever thought of the idea of that movie is unbelievable creative. I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a mind that was that creative.

The other day I was driving home from work, on 290, going posted speeds with the rest of the Houston population, and do you want to know what I saw: a duck and her four baby ducks. That is right, there was a duck trying to cross 290 with her 4 babies!!! It was a disturbing picture for me. How on earth did that duck and her four babies get up on 290? Should I stop and put all of them in my car and take them to a pond? What will they do if they do make it to the other side- there is a cement barrier over there?! It was pretty torn up about the scene. The mother duck looked so confused and scared- she was trying to protect her babies. I share this for two reasons. One, it has really bothered me. And two, why has this scene bothers me so much? I am choosing to think they were able to turn around and go back to where they came from or some other person equally concerned as me pulled over, got all 5 of them in their car, and took them to safety. Please do not try to tell me otherwise...

By the end of this month I will have made over $200 on eBay. Not bad for stuff around the house I never used.

It is thundering and raining as I type this post. I seriously think that is one of the best sounds ever.

I finished season 2 of Mad Men this afternoon... I need season 3 ASAP... I am totally hooked.

I went to a Robert Plant and the Band of Joy concert last night. It was great. I mainly went to see Patty Griffin, she does a lot of the duet and back up vocal for Plant on this tour. Patty is one of my all time favorite artists. She mostly sang duets and then did one solo. I love it when singers sound great on their albums and great live. There were a lot of Led Zepplin fans there, made for an interesting crowd. The people watching was almost as good as the concert. Robert Plant and Patty Griffin's album releases next month, I will be buying it. And I am current wearing the shirt I got at the concert last night, I feel pretty cool wearing it... I am a nerd, I know.

I am on a finger nail painting kick right now. I have never kept my finger nails painted, but over the last month I have tried to take better care of my nails. I like my hands better this way.

I went to the store hungry today after church. I came home with way more food then I needed- like Klondike bars. Have I ever bought Klondike bars?! No, but they looks so good and it was hot and I was hungry. I will be having a Klondike bar after dinner tonight. You should never go to the store hungry.

I am in the process of searching for new glasses. I went to the eye doctor this week and he told me I had to start wearing glasses more often. I want some really cool and hip glasses. We will see if I can pull this off.

Today is my middle sisters birthday- it is good to be able to celebrate her today. Happy Birthday Chrissy!!!

That is enough randomness for one post. Enjoy the week ahead of you...

I agree going to the grocery store is very dangerous. But I'm glad you got a Klondike bar! It was a leftover craving from last night I think.

I noticed your nails earlier and didn't get to say anything. They look great!

I meant to say going to the grocery store HUNGRY is dangerous, but I guess depending on where you live it could be dangerous at any time.

I think going to Central Market is dangerous, hungry or not. I could spend HOURS in there! Also, I like the new blog look - very vintage and chic. :)

I went glasses shopping by myself last time, and I took a camera so I could compare pics of myself in different frames. I still love mine after more than a year!

I can't believe there were 5 ducks on a Houston highway. What a sight THAT must've been! Can't wait to see a picture of you in your new specs.

for cool frames, talk to Debbie Orr at BCM Optical--she's a genius and they make the best lenses anywhere.

I understand about the ducks... things like that go straight to my heart, too.

I'm going to have to get glasses at some point for nighttime driving/nearsightedness/etc. yay for cool ones!

I quoted your duck story in my most recent blog. I also quoted another friend's blog which I linked. Victoria and I both have "public blogs" completely searchable by any & every one since were"publishing" academic notes & creative writings. I quoted but did not link your blog because I sense that it is really more personal & private. If you'd like me to add a link, I can. Loved the story--didn't realize how much it had gotten to me until I started writing.
