Christmas 2011...

We had a great Christmas here in Houston- spent with a new life in the house. We got home from the hospital on Thursday and spent Thursday and Friday around the house with my family. They were all going to be here anyways due to me not being able to leave Houston for the holidays. In some ways, Cora's arrival could not have been more perfect time wise.

My family always opens all our gifts on Christmas Eve. Saturday morning I gave Steve his gift- a new iPhone 4GS. Cora, Steve, and I had our first outing to get the phone hooked up and we went to her first doctors appointment (pictures coming soon). We spent the rest of the day at home. My sister Catherine cooked an amazing meal Saturday night and after dinner we opened gifts.
Our family right before the opening of gifts. It was sweet to open gifts with a sleeping baby on my chest.
Cora even got a few things, including this pink and brown football. Her main gift- a play mat which I am sure she will start using very soon. Overall Cora slept through most of the evening, next year will be much different, I am sure!
Sunday morning Steve and I woke up (or at least got up, we were already awake) and had our own Christmas. We opened gifts from his parents and exchanged gifts with one another. I was once again reminded how blessed and even spoiled we are during this time of year. Everyone was so generous. Sunday morning we all opened our stockings- no pictures of that, sorry! This is a big tradition in our family, we kind of go overboard on the stockings- I love it!
Here is our Christmas day family picture. I looked exhausted, which I am, but not just from sleep deprivation. At around 3am Christmas morning I started running a fever. Long story short, my doctor thinks it was an early breast infection. Steve ran to Walgreens that morning around 4am for meds called in by the on call doctor and my fever broke around 4pm Christmas day. I am not totally convinced that is what it was, as I had no other symptoms, but I am almost finished with the meds and other then that day I have felt great (more about all of that in a post to come).

I hope everyone has had a good holiday and gearing up to welcome the New Year. I know we are. Not only are we introducing a baby to the New Year, Steve and I will be celebrating 7 years of marriage on Sunday. Not sure what or how we will celebrate, but I do know it will be special and memorable. I hope to write out the birth story soon. It is a pretty amazing story and I want to capture all the details, just trying to get it all out of my heart and head and onto paper right now. Plus I have a million and one pictures to share with you, so stay tuned!
