So in honor of her 6 week birthday we are traveling- by plane. Yes, I know I am crazy, but there are some things we need to go do in February. We have 3 trips planned this up coming month- 2 by car and one by plane. So here is where you come in: please share any advice you have about traveling with an infant. The doctor has cleared us and we are making a VERY quick trip to Midland (more on that later). Please share what to pack, what not to pack, how to get around the airport with a baby, etc. Also, any tips for car travel will be helpful as well. Cora still sleeps a lot so I hope she sleeps these trips away! Now that I said that she will scream the whole time:). I have already started packing and we do not even leave until Thursday- oh how travel has changed for this girl who always packs the night before...

CUTE picture!!
I'm so sorry Cora is sick. What a bummer! Hope she continues to get better. Taking care of a sick baby, especially when they are not sleeping well at night, is SO INCREDIBLY HARD. Just remind yourself that it will not always be like this and that you will sleep again...I promise! Otherwise, I would have been done after Jude. haha.
You will probably find that it will be much easier to travel with Cora now than when she is a bit older. As for the plane ride, nurse her or stick a paci in her mouth as you are taking off and landing. Both of my kids slept really well on planes and in cars when they were really little (now...not so much!). As for what to bring, I found it easier to put my babies in my baby bjorn or other type of carrier while in the airport. That was just easier for me and I liked not having to deal with a stroller. Also, I always bring an extra pair of clothes and a few extra burp clothes on the flight with me. Good luck!!
Airplane.
We've flown with both kids as babies and have never had any problems. Plan her feedings around take off and landing times. Praying for sweet stewardesses and friendly seat neighbors!
Driving.
I never did this with Bladen, but with Liz I'd sit in the back seat and distract her with toys, bottles, company if she got fussy.
You'll do great! Go with the flow. Praying for your busy month!
You've already been given good advice. Traveling with a newborn is so much easier than traveling with an older kid. Nurse or use the paci on take off and landing so that her ears don't bother her. Like Jenny said, take an extra change of clothes.
I've done more travel by car with Maggie than by plane - I've always found it best to try to travel very early in the day (or late). That way, the darkness outside helps to keep her calm and sleepy. When she was smaller and got frustrated, rolling down a window (air circulation, whooshing sound) usually helped calm her down.
My travel essentials back wthen were extra clothes/light blankets/burpcloths, bottles & accompanying accoutrement, pack n play/bedding/swaddle, pump, baby sling, a few different pacis and toys. I've always traveled with one of my strollers, too, to have an easy place to store my bag and save my back if I'm going to do a lot of walking.
It IS easier when they're little - you don't have to worry about packing so much entertainment!
I feel like Jenny said everything i would have! Bottom line is just relax and know that even if sweet girl does have a rough go of it at times, it has NOTHING to do with your mothering ability and NO-ONE else is thinking a single thing about it except for maybe, "Awww, remember when we had little babies?" You'll do great. (And yes, sleep does come again!)
