Well, it happened, just like everyone said it would. We have a one year old and I am amazed at how quickly this year flew by. My good friend said it best- 'not sure how it is possible that a baby's first year can simultaneously be the longest and shortest year of your life.' But it is.
Cora has been a blast this month. She is crawling everywhere and getting into everything. The Christmas tree looks real funny with no ornaments around the bottom- only the top:). She is pulling up and moving from object to object. Surely we will have a walker within the month. Cora has also started to really play this month. She likes peak-a-boo and even plays the game with herself- it is hilarious to watch. She has started to wave and shake her head no (that's fun).
The biggest news this month: she said her first word: DAD. What a great first word:). I can tell she is on the verge of other words but no big ones yet. She says mamamama and dadadadada a lot. Cora still has very blond hair and bright blue eyes- she gets compliments all the time. At the Well Check-Up today she weighs 19 pounds 9 oz (25%), is 30 inches tall (80%). We are thankful for a very healthy girl and glad those FOUR shots and finger prick are behind us!
Cora is in size 3 diapers during the day and size 4 at night but we are about to make the transition to size 4 diapers all around. Cora wears size 12-18 months clothes. She eats 3 solid meals, 2 snacks, and nurses 3 times a day. Cora is an awesome eater and eats anything and everything we put in front of her. I hope to start the weaning processes within the next couple days- wish us luck! Nights are about the same right now. She goes down between 7 and 8 and then wakes to feed around 5 or 6 or 7am or sometimes earlier. After she nurses she sleeps until 8 or 9am. We are about to start trying some new things to get her to sleep later in the morning- wish us luck on that too!
No trips this month, which was really nice. Cora does AWESOME on a routine (I do too!). Cora had her first Thanksgiving and 'ran' her first 5k here in Houston. Cora is getting so fun when it comes to being out and about. Everything is an adventure for her.
What a year- an amazing year!!! I probably will not do monthly updates any longer- maybe just update as we go to our well visits. We will have to see. Now on her her big first birthday tomorrow- stay tuned!!
